Hurstville Wins Chamber of Commerce of the Year

The Hurstville Chamber of Commerce hard work has been recognised and is has won the prestigious and hotly contested award of Local Chamber of Commerce of the Year Award 2016. The glamorous awards ceremony was held on Wednesday 3rd of August at Icebergs of Bondi.

Mr Allan Zreik President said “we are very excited about receiving this award, all the hard work of the committee and members has been noticed”. The Chamber has been an advocate for small business interests and we work together to create positive change for the area, Allan said “we believe it’s important for the business community to succeed, our chambers heritage can be traced back to 1922, I believe this is the first time an award like this has been handed to a Local Chamber in the St George area”.

Allan said “When I took on the role in 2015 our first executive meeting was simple, I asked the committee members to treat the role as though they are getting paid for the role, I wanted to run the chamber as a business with all members being accountable for their actions or lack of, I believe that with this attitude we have made our Chamber what it is today”, Allan added “We wanted to hold workshops and networking opportunities for our members each month we hold workshops that covered everything from marketing your small business to compliance”.

NSW Business Chamber Chief Executive, Stephen Cartwright, said the awards finalists highlighted the calibre of local businesses and business leaders, these awards are a great way to recognise the outstanding achievements of Sydney’s local businesses,” Mr Cartwright said.

Mr Zreik said “the last few months we have been working hard on a few major projects” Allan said “one the boards project is to allow a better streamline system for small businesses who wish to do business in our great area” an announcement is expected soon.
